Give what is already theirs.

Zakat is not a donation you choose to make. It is a right the poor hold over your wealth, and one of the five pillars your faith is built on. Giving it purifies what you own and places a fixed share of it in the hands of people entitled to receive it.

Why Give Zakat

A duty that purifies wealth

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and an act of worship in its own right. Giving it purifies what you own, releasing the share that was never entirely yours.

It is owed, not offered. Surah At-Tawbah names those entitled to receive it, beginning with the poor and the needy, so the person accepting your Zakat is not asking you for a favour.

Through HF Trust UK it reaches people waiting on exactly this: families with no reliable income, orphaned children who have lost the person who provided for them, and widows supporting a household alone.

Who Can Benefit

Who your Zakat can reach

Hardship rarely announces itself. It looks like a week where the food runs out early, a child with nobody left to provide for them, or an illness in a household that cannot pay to treat it.

The Trust's work meets those needs directly: support for orphaned and vulnerable children, food assistance for households under strain, access to clean water, help with essential medical needs, and emergency support when a flood or storm takes everything at once.

Need is checked before support is given, not afterwards. Our local teams know these communities, so help reaches the people carrying the most and arrives without a crowd or a camera.

Why Choose Us

Why give your Zakat through HF Trust UK

Choose Zakat on the form above and that is exactly what your gift is recorded and spent as. It is kept for eligible recipients, and eligibility is checked before support is given, not afterwards.

It reaches real work: orphan care, food support, water projects, medical support, emergency relief, and the Madrasah and Mosque the Trust has supported for years. Each is set out in full on this site, so you can see what your Zakat joins.

HF Trust UK is a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1142324, registered on 9 June 2011, with accounts filed publicly every year. Your support is what keeps that work going.

Common Questions

Questions about Zakat

Who must pay Zakat?
Every adult Muslim of sound mind whose net eligible wealth has stayed at or above the nisab threshold for one full lunar year. The rate is 2.5% of that net wealth, counting cash, savings, gold, silver, business assets and investments after debts are deducted. The nisab itself is set at the value of 612.36g of silver or 87.48g of gold, so it moves with the metal price and is worth checking against a current rate. If your wealth is below it, no Zakat is due from you this year.
Who can receive Zakat?
Surah At-Tawbah (9:60) names eight categories: the poor, the needy, those employed to collect it, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, captives, those in debt, the cause of Allah, and the stranded traveller. Zakat given to someone outside those categories does not count as Zakat, however much good it does, which is why eligibility is checked before support is given.
When should I pay Zakat?
Zakat falls due once your wealth has sat at or above the nisab for one lunar year. That anniversary is your own, so it can land at any point in the year, and it is worth noting the date. Many Muslims choose to give during Ramadan for the increased reward, but Zakat should not be delayed once it is genuinely due.
Can I give extra alongside my Zakat?
Yes. Zakat is the minimum owed, not a ceiling. Anything beyond it is Sadaqah, voluntary charity that carries its own reward, and you can enter any amount in the form above. If your wealth is below the nisab and no Zakat is due from you, you are still very welcome to give as Sadaqah.
How does HF Trust UK distribute Zakat?
Zakat is kept for recipients eligible under the eight categories in Surah At-Tawbah (9:60) and is not absorbed into general funds. It is distributed by established local teams in Bangladesh who verify eligibility before support is given, and it reaches our food, orphan care, medical, emergency relief and education programmes. Which of those it funds depends on who qualifies and what is most needed at the time, so we do not publish a fixed split we could not honour.

Fulfil Your Obligation

Fulfil your Zakat today

Zakat is the pillar most often postponed, and the one that costs somebody else when it is. A share of what you hold this year already belongs to a family in Bangladesh who cannot wait indefinitely for it. Give it now through a registered UK charity, to people who genuinely qualify, and let it do what it was always meant to do.
