One well. Clean water for a generation.
A water well is charity you can point at. Long after the day it is drilled, families are still drinking from it, children are still growing up healthy because of it, and the reward is still being written for whoever paid for it.

Why Give a Water Well
Not short of water. Short of safe water
A country of rivers, ponds and monsoon rain does not look like somewhere with a water problem, and that is what makes it persistent: the water is everywhere, and much of it cannot be trusted.
Two things spoil it. Across much of the delta, shallow groundwater carries naturally occurring arsenic, which has no taste, smell or colour. In the coastal south the trouble is salt, pushed inland by tidal surges, which turns wells brackish.
Fetching water is women's and children's work, and where the nearest safe source is a walk away it takes hours out of every day. A well in the right place, drilled deep enough, solves it.
What Changes
The water is only the first thing that changes
A well arrives as clean drinking water, and everything else follows. Once the water is safe, washing and cooking become safe too, and the illnesses that used to circle a village start to loosen their grip.
Then the hours come back. A source near the houses means nobody is walking to fetch water, so girls who were carrying it are in school instead, and households that were spending money on treating sickness stop spending it.
A well tends to become the centre of things: a shared asset a community looks after because everyone depends on it. It is the clearest example of Sadaqah Jariyah, charity that keeps giving.
Why Choose Us
A well is only lasting if it is built to last
Abandoned hand pumps are a common sight across South Asia, and they are the reason we are careful. A well that fails in its third year was a good intention with poor groundwork.
HF Trust UK is a charity registered in England and Wales, and the work starts before any drilling. Our local teams in Bangladesh identify communities that genuinely lack a safe source, check what the groundwater at that site is like, and site the well where the whole village can reach it.
After handover, day to day upkeep sits with the community, and our teams stay in contact so a fault gets fixed. When you choose Water Well on the form above, that is what your donation is recorded and used for.
Quran & Hadith
Water in the sources
Quran
"... and We made from water every living thing. Then will they not believe?"
Quran
"And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy, and We send down from the sky pure water."
Hadith
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: an ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him."
Hadith
Sa'd ibn Ubadah asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which charity was best. He answered, "Giving water to drink."
Fund Clean Water
Give water once. Give it for years.
Somewhere in Bangladesh a family is drinking water they know they should not trust, because it is the only water they have. A well ends that, and then keeps ending it every day for years afterwards. Contribute what you can above, whether that funds a well outright or a share of one, and it will go towards clean water.
